Action Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept other kinds of payment besides credit cards?
No, we do not. Our rates are lept low by not having a collections department and by
not having to chase people for payment. This also enables us to pay our transcriptionists
quickly so no one will suffer a hardship.
Can I call you to talk about my transcription needs?
Quite frankly, taking telephone inquiries costs money and we would have to
increase our transcription fees. Our Website should answer nearly all of your questions,
but if you still have a question, please feel free to e-mail us.
Why isn't everything $1 a minute? Why do you keep adding on 25 cents here and
25 cents there?
We are trying to be fair both to our transcriptionists and our clients. Poor quality
audio with background noise and multiple speakers takes longer to transcribe. There's
more work involved, our transcriptionists have to be paid more and the transcription
has to cost more.
Do you offer volume pricing?
Actually, with pricing starting at $1 per minute, we are offering the least
expensive cost possible. There really is no way we could reduce the cost further.
How accurate are your transcripts?
The industry standard is 98% accuracy for broadcast quality audio and lower for
poorer quality audio. We strive for better than this through the quality of our
transcriptionists and our in-house processes.
What digital format is the best?
For what we do, we feel the MP3 format offers the best in terms of quality versus
file size for easier uploading and downloading. We recommend a sample rate of 22 kHz
and a bit rate of 48 kbps. Higher encoding rates don't add quality to the recordings
and just waste bandwidth.
You did a transcript for me two years ago. Is there any way I can get
another copy?
Unless you tell us otherwise, we will securely archive your transcript for at least
two years at no extra charge.
